How to Speed up Your Business Blog Workflow
Last updated June 18th 2024
Creating blog content and managing a blog shouldn't be time-consuming. 🤷♀️
If you have a good blog workflow in place and know exactly what to write in the first place, then publishing new blog content should be a breeze.
In this blog post, I recommend my top 4 tips to make your current blog workflow less time-consuming so that your content can work harder for you and you can have a higher ROI on your content.

1. Don't edit as you write ❌
As a writer of 12 + years, the biggest mistake I see is people editing their content as they write it.
NOPE. 👎
Instead, open a Google doc and just write. Write badly, write with mistakes, write without grammar. Just write.
If you get it down all on paper you won't break your writing flow.
When you switch from writing to editing you're switching tasks, which means you're also switching to different parts of your brain.
So instead, just focus on getting it all down on paper, and then afterwards you can go back and edit your spelling, grammar and add any missing sentences or words.
2. Use a project management tool 💻
When you have a blog, you need to treat it like any other marketing platform in terms of organization and management.
If I have a podcast (which I do by the way - The Marketing That Leads Podcast), I don't just sit down and record right away.
Instead, I have an Asana board that has all my podcast ideas laid out, which episodes we’re going to film and when, and any notes.
Plus we also have what other tasks need to be done for that episode to go out. That's the way you should treat your blog too.
We have a general blog board in which we plan ideas, confirm ideas and then assign the writing, editing and posting to the team member needed, and we also have a blog updating board.
Once a blog is published, the task gets moved to this updating board so that we can be reminded to update that blog post to keep it relevant to my ideal client.
Did you know that by simply updating your evergreen blog content, you can TRIPLE your leads?

3. Have a simple, clear strategy that is repeatable ♻️
If you are currently feeling overwhelmed with your blog OR you haven't started one because you have no idea what to do first, the simple answer to overcome that is…

Inside the Blog Traffic Machine Group program, we have a 4-step strategy.

4. Think of your SEO keywords ahead of time 🔎
You should never sit at a blank screen and not know what to write about.
If you want to use blog marketing as a strategy to bring leads, sales and visibility to your business then you should be creating content plans that allow you to plan 2-3 months ahead of time.
Inside the Blog Traffic Machine, I teach my students to plan up to 3 months in advance so they have the thought “I don't know what to write this week”.
Instead, they know exactly what they need to publish next that will bring them leads and sales on autopilot and be in line with what they are selling/promoting this year.
A big piece of knowing what content to write is doing SEO research.
The tool that helps me do this is Keysearch. (Use code KSDIS at checkout to get 20% off)
With Keysearch you're able to research what key terms (or keywords) your ideal clients are typing into Google.
Then from there, you can create a master list of seo keywords that will be:
- Easy for you to rank for
- Will attract your perfect lead
Once you have a bank of seo keywords then you can pick out the ones that make the most sense to publish first.
If you find 20 keywords using this, you’ll have 20 weeks (5 months) of content ideas.
But not just any content ideas, content ideas that will actually attract conversions.
Follow these 4 steps and your blog strategy will be less time-consuming and faster than ever to manage.
